Where Do The Muppets Go From Here?

The Muppets is released in cinemas in the UK this week. Released in the US last November, it is the first theatrical outing for The Muppets since 1999’s Muppets from Space. The movie enjoyed reasonable success in the United States, and we’ll find out this weekend how it fares in the UK. It has not set the world box office alight so far, but has definitely found an audience. The question, then, is how to build on this momentum.

Colin Farrell Could Recall His Career Potential

It was confirmed this week that Colin Farrell will play the lead in Len Wiseman’s Total Recall adaptation, to be released in 2012. Rather than a straight remake of the 90’s movie, it is expected to be much closer to Philip K. Dick’s original novel. This is good news for the film, and even better news for Farrell. The talented Irishman has not had the most stellar of careers to this point, and hopefully an intelligent Dick adaptation with a hard sci-fi edge can help him continue his journey back to the A-list. Prepare For A Marvellous Month Of Movies

Traditionally, January is the cinematic dumping ground. A slow month, it is usually the time when the dregs of the past year are put out to seed. That’s in the US. Here in the UK, we are often a bit luckier. The Autumn months in the States are when the Oscar hopefuls start being released, films which we quite often don’t get on these shores until some time later. That seems to be particularly the case this time around. In the next month, we see UK releases of some of the brightest and best of the Academy Award contenders. It’s going to be a great month.
